Who is God? (Part 8) God is omnipresent and eternal.

Omnipresent

God is everywhere at the same time. He is not confined by space or time.

Psalm 139:7-10
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
Jeremiah 23:24
“Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I do not see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord.
Acts 7:48-50
However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:
49 Heaven is My throne, and earth is the footstool of My feet. What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord, Or what place is there for My repose?50 ‘Was it not My hand which made all these things?’

Eternal

Describing the word eternal is like describing the mathematical concept, infinity. With the introduction of the infinity concept (), my favorite idea about math exploded. I thought numbers were real, defined, concrete. In my young mind, I imagined that numbers might be the only things that were always rational! Who was John Wallis, from the mid-1600’s, anyway? What right did he have to burst my mathematical bubble?

God’s eternality is also a concept that exceeds comprehension. He always existed, He was before time and will continue throughout infinity.

Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
Isaiah 44:6
Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me.”
1 Timothy 1:17
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
