Seek God (Part 7) Wholeheartedly

Little children love to play “Hide and Seek”. It is especially amusing with young toddlers that prefer to be seen instead of remaining hidden. They run to their somewhat obvious hiding spot, giggling and squirming the entire time and as soon as the seeker starts looking for them, they jump out and say “Here I am!”

God delights to be seen also. He has given us instruction to seek Him. He has shown us His faithfulness in the words of scripture. Sometimes I think we try to find God with our eyes shut. We want to imagine God as we want Him to be, instead of actually seeing the truth of who He is in scripture.

We should follow the Psalmist in our quest for God. He cries to God for understanding, looks to Him for deliverance, and learns from His word. He gives praise for God’s truth and help, and chooses to honor God.

Psalm 119:169-175
Let my cry come before You, O LORD; give me understanding according to Your word. 170 Let my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your word. 171 Let my lips utter praise, for You teach me Your statutes. 172 Let my tongue sing of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness. 173 Let Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts. 174 I long for Your salvation, O LORD, and Your law is my delight. 175 Let my soul live that it may praise You, and let Your ordinances help me.

Seek God diligently, hold to Him in faith and praise Him for all He is and the rewards He gives as you believe His truth.

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

God beckons us to seek Him. He makes our souls to hunger and thirst for Him. He creates us to respond to Him. It is our privilege to intentionally seek God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Our hearts are encouraged and our purpose is fulfilled as we seek God’s presence in times of darkness or exuberance, struggle or comfort, pain or joy. As we turn to God, praise Him and trust Him, He overcomes.
