Seek God (Part 2) Ongoing Practice

We seek the things we want. Our dogs provide a great example of this. Cookie and Sadie are sisters from the same litter. Their lives have been nearly the same, except Cookie was the alpha dog of the litter; Sadie was the runt. Sadie still only weighs about 2/3 of Cookie’s weight but they are both healthy dogs.

After the dogs have been outside and come back in the house, they will both stop in the mud room and smell my hand to see if there is a treat for them. Most of the time there is not a treat, but just in case this is their lucky day, they seek by sniffing my hand. They ALWAYS want a treat and they seek it in the place they have found it before.

We also seek what we want in our life. Jesus told us where we would find satisfaction for all we desire.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

As we seek God, we find encouragement during difficulty and satisfaction in His purpose. God gives purpose for seeking Him, and He also gives the process—seek Him continually. David shows us an example.

1 Chronicles 16:8-12
Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples. 9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders. 10 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad. 11 Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually. 12 Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth

Turn to God, praise, and trust Him. This is the practice that satisfies our seeking heart.
